On Saturday September 15th, there was an opening reception at the Hammond Museum honoring the Japan-US Student Art Exchange presentation of YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
The art is from a special ArtLink program following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. There are over 100 pieces of art created by students in Japan and in the USA.  The Japanese art captures the reflections of the Japanese students who were living in the region affected by the tragedy. The USA students created art about their culture and what they value along with letters of compassion and support for their new friends in Japan.
About 100 people attended including some local young artists whose art is featured in the show.
This exhibit will be up through November 17, 2012.
On Saturday October 20, 2012, Creative Connections will be conducting an art workshop from 1:00 – 2:30 pm followed by a tour of the gardens and a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony.  Please contact the Hammond Museum for more information. www.hammondmuseum.org
