Winter 2023

Dear Friends,

The spirit of unity and peace is a special part of the holiday season – and one that is
especially needed right now.

Whether you are already a treasured member of the Creative Connections family, or are
learning about us for the first time, I invite you to join us by supporting our Annual Fund.

As you might know, our exchanges of art and ideas are designed to provide a platform for
students from African, Asia, Latin America, Europe (including Ukraine this year), and the USA
to creatively share their voices, transforming apathy, ignorance, and entrenched views into
empathic global understanding.

Please help us bring the gift of “Peace on Earth” to students here and abroad.

With warm gratitude,

Alan Steckler, Founder & President

Your support will ensure that students in underserved communities here in CT and beyond will have their voices heard.

You are an important part of our work and our mission.

Please consider contributing to our Annual Appeal.

Welcoming: New Board Member

Ami-Lynn Bakshi

We extend a warm welcome to Ami-Lynn, who joins us as the newest addition to our Board of Directors. Her extensive experience in marketing, innovation, and sales, combined with her passion for people make her an invaluable asset to our board.

Ami-Lynn is actively involved in her community in Norwalk, CT, serving on the Board of the Norwalk Senior Center and supporting local charitable causes.

We look forward to tapping into Ami-Lynn’s entrepreneurial spirit and experience as we expand and deepen our global connecting work.

Traveling: Staff Around the World

In October, CC Senior Program Director Miguel Barreto attended the IVEC23 conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the largest and most prominent event focusing on educational Virtual Exchange. 41 nations were represented. Miguel left feeling inspired by all of the speakers, instructors, and leaders he met, and motivated to forge collaborative relationships that would enhance our global connection partnerships.

In November, Alan Steckler and his family traveled to Cambodia, hosted by former International Young Performers’ Tour partnering organization, Cambodian Living Arts. Alan met with artists and educators, planting the seeds for future ArtLink and TheaterConnect programming relationships.
