The almost 100-year-old family tradition I chose to illustrate is the Knusperhaus, which is brought to the children in my family by St. Nicholas on December 5th. A cousin of my great-grandmother in Romania started this tradition. When times were hard in the 1900s, and no one could get a gingerbread house, the creative cousin built a Knusperhaus out of wooden dowels, tissue paper, and apples. Three generations of my family have shared with me what they remember about this tradition growing up.

My family consists of my parents, Brian and Sylvia, a sister, Ilona Kota, and a brother, Harrison. I like to read, ride my bike, go on family vacations, play with Legos, and draw. I like dislike people who fight and cruel, and do harm to other living things and the environment.

Someday I hope to become a world-famous paleontologist.
