2022 - Nature and Me: Bringing Science & Art Together

ArtLink 2021-2022 Theme Assignment:

“It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement, the greatest source of visual beauty, the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living… We need to learn how to work with nature rather than against it.” – David Attenborough, ‘A Life on Our Planet,’ 2020

This year’s theme focused on the importance of our natural surroundings.

Our daily lives take place in, and are affected by, our environment. We asked ArtLink students to think about this human/nature relationship from a personal point of view. Consciously or unconsciously, how did they experience this interdependent connection with plants, animals, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the climate that surrounds us? And how have any charges in the condition of these forms of nature and natural elements positively or negatively affected them as individuals? In other words, how have they been affected?
