“Memorial Day Parade” by Kathleen, age 8, USA

Last night we held our opening reception to honor all the young artists whose art was selected this year from our ArtLink programs.  It was a wonderful night, the event was held at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk in the lobby of the IMAX Theater.

We were thrilled to welcome over 150 guests including many young artists.  After an hour long reception and art viewing in the lobby our guests were invited into the IMAX for an award ceremony.

The selected art featured here (also on display at the exhibit) is entitled, Memorial Day Parade”. It was created by Kathleen, age 8 from Jefferson Science Magnet School in Norwalk, CT. She describes her piece, “This is a picture of me and my friends walking in the Memorial Day Parade.  In this picture, I include my friends, the sun, a truck, a butterfly and part of a plane.  The value I am depicting is friendship.  It is important to me because I like to spend time with them and have fun.”

We are grateful to Kathleen and all our young artists for sharing their creative talents with us and helping produce such a wonderful, inspiring and delightful collection of art.

The 2013 International Children’s Art Exhibit will be on display at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk for the summer.  We hope you will visit soon; there is no entrance fee to see the art show located in the lobby of the IMAX theater.
