Excellence in Action

We are thrilled to announce Ms. Lina Kamal Qashou of Khelda Secondary School in Jordan as the 2025 recipient of the Susie Salomon Visionary Award!

This award, named in honor of our beloved friend Susie Salomon, is given to one of our educators who has made extraordinary efforts to bring global understanding to their students and community along with their program partners, providing leadership, inspiration, and vision.

Ms. Lina exemplifies this spirit in every connection she builds. Since joining our program in 2015, Ms. Lina has been a transformative force, empowering over 260 young women to share their stories and build global connections through art and dialogue.

Our congratulations and gratitude to this year’s winner!

On the Horizon

Global Voices: Ethics Lab is our new virtual exchange program that empowers high school students to explore ethical decision-making, empathy, and global citizenship through the creative lens of educational theater.

Through creative collaboration, intercultural breakout rooms, and meaningful dialogue, this program helps young people develop their confidence, integrity, and moral courage.

Designed to deepen communication skills and inspire meaningful action, Global Voices: Ethics Lab transforms classrooms into global communities of thoughtful, compassionate change-makers.

This pilot program is starting in September 2025. More information will be available on our website soon.

Time, Talent, and So Much Heart

“This has been a fun yet quietly transformative experience. It has been an immense privilege to be involved in the ins & outs of a global organization and interact with so many different cultures.

…from scanning Ukrainian watercolor illustrations to creating videos about breakfast in Kenya, each task has opened my eyes to the true breadth & color of the shared human experience.”

– Zerach (Rocky) Zou

We’re deeply grateful for the four weeks Rocky spent with us as an intern. We asked him to share a Top 10 list of his impressions during his time here.

Here are 3 highlights:

1. Cultural exchange is most powerful when it’s tangible and visual.

2. Authenticity can’t be manufactured, it comes from real people sharing real stories.

3. Cultural pride is contagious.

My Toy Cat, Latvia

Student artist Oleksandra, from Latvia, shares: “I came to Latvia from Ukraine when war started and this toy helps me when I feel lonely and sad. It’s my toy kitty, it’s soft and tender.”
