About the Artwork

I felt that this was the best title for my pictures because they were just glances at life in my country. It does not show all of the aspects but it does highlight some of the major differences in the lifestyles of the people living in the United States. My collage shows photos of the same idea in different situations. Each “scene” has two parts. The first is what people probably picture when they think of America – prosperity. The second depicts problems in my country such as smoking and homelessness. I felt that black and white photographs were the best media in which to do this piece because they really get the point across.

I live with my mom, Helaine, and my Dad, Dale. My ten-year old sister, Lauren, who loves to act, also lives with us. This year is school, my favorite subjects are math, science, and writing. After school, I participate in Yearbook and Math Club. Also, I dance two nights each week and ice skate. Currently, I skate by myself and on two precision teams, the Shadows and the Silhouettes. When I grow up, I really don’t know what career I would like to have. However, if I had to choose right now, I would probably be a journalist.
