What Is the Story?
The story I am illustrating here is a story with my sister, brother, mom, dad, and me. Specifically just my mom, brother, sister and me were sledding down our backyard with our plastic sleds. At one point my brother broke one of our orange sleds in half. We thought it was funny though so we still used it. Since I was small then, when I finally got to ride, I ended up going really fast and it was super fun.
Why did You Select this Story?
I selected this story because I first wanted to make a sledding story picture and I thought this story would be a good fit. A personal and community value underlying my story would definitely be spending time with my family.
Who is in Your Story?
The people who are in my story are my brother who is in the blue sled, my sister who is in the green sled, and me who is in the split-in-half orange sled. My mom is in the background to the left with her arms up, and my dad is on the fence of our house in the back right corner.
Where does It Take Place?
My story takes place in our backyard of our house, in Woodstock CT. It has some pretty good hills.
When does it Take Place?
My story takes place probably almost 4 years ago when I was nine. It was definitely during the winter time and during the 4pm-5pm range (EST time zone).
What do you want to be Understood about You/Your Culture?
I want my partner students to understand from my art that spending time with family is really important. You never know how many chances you’ll get to do that.
About the Artist
Family Details
One detail about my gamily, its members, and our cultural heritage is that we have a family crest, specifically Cunniffe, if I remember correctly. It is a sort of shield symbol. Another detail is that our last name “Cunniff” is Irish.
In What Ways is Cultural Heritage Important?
Some ways my cultural heritage is important to me is our family celebrating holidays every year like Christmas and Easter. We usually put on a nice yule log fireplace on our TV every Christmas morning.
Likes and Dislikes
Three of my likes are playing outside, playing games with family or just online, and having fun on vacations during the summer. Three of my dislikes are horror movies, getting sick, and heavily arguing. I like playing outside because of the fresh air and the birds chirping. I dislike getting sick because then most of the time tons of liquids and foods don’t taste good, like water.
Free Time Activities
In my free time, I like to play lots of games and watch videos. When I have the chance, playing outside is another one.
My Role Model
I would say Sylvester Stallone (an American actor) particularly inspires me with his motivating quote, “It’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward”. Two other role models that inspire me are Mr. Rodgers (an American TV personality) and Tom Brady (an American football quarterback).
Career Goals
I am still a bit undecided on one single job that I would like to have when I grow up. However, I do have a few different jobs in mind that I’d like to have in the future. When I grow up, I’d like to work at a Del’s Lemonade store with my mom. I would also like to maybe do a YouTube job on the side as a creator along with that. If I still do well in school I might possibly try and get a sort of engineering job.
