2011 – Water: Values, Traditions, and Cultures
ArtLink 2010-11 Theme Assignment: Water and culture are inter-related. Specifically we asked our participating young artists to choose something they particularly value in their culture and convey how water plays a major or minor part in how this value is carried out.
This exhibition highlights the talents of over 300 young artists from 26 countries. Their work was selected from well over 6000 pieces that were produced as part of Creative Connections’ ArtLink program for the 2010-11 school year.
Creative Connections’ “Art Partners of the Year” honors were awarded to:
International Partner of the Year: Peekok YouthARTS Center, Lagos, Nigeria
Director: Mr. Akinloye Oyetunji Olu.
This collection includes a variety of particularly thoughtful pieces illustrating the rich traditions valued by these young Nigerians.
US Partner of the Year: Curie High School, Chicago, IL
Art Teacher: Ms. Valerie Xanos
The talented young artists from Chicago created a bright and bold set of art that compellingly presents the culture of city life.
Special Exhibit of “Water” art exchanged between partner classes in Japan and the USA.
Thanks to a generous grant from the United States-Japan Foundation, 2O classes in these countries created art to send across the Pacific to their ArtLink partners.
Special thanks to
Our ArtLink partner teachers from all over the world who inspired their young student artists to create such wonderful, insightful art.
