We were happy to have two friends from Nigeria visit our office yesterday, Tuesday September 3, 2013.

Chief Fatai Shodimu and his son are seen here with Christi Rose, our Executive Director.
Chief Shodimu is an important supporter and patron of The Peekok YouthARTS Initiative,(website: http://www.peekokyoutharts.org/) an organization that helps us connect with schools in Nigeria.
The art work featured is titled; “Great Performance” and was created in last year’s ArtLink program by a student from the Corona Secondary School in Lagos Nigeria.

The Corona School is a partner school member of The Peekok YouthARTS Initiatives. As stated on their website, The Peekok YouthARTS Initiatives (PYI) is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-tribal youth art scheme, offering various arts programs for youths in Nigeria in particular and Africa in general. It was founded in December 2007 by a group of young professional artists who met at the Top-12 Youthwork projects seminar organized by British Council Nigeria and Youngstars Foundation Int’l in Jos, Plateau State on how to take part in Youth Development Work.”

We value our partnership with PYI and our partner schools in Nigeria. We are grateful to Mr.Tunji Olu Akinloye, the Executive Director of PYI, for his leadership in coordinating our ArtLink programs on the ground in Nigeria.  He is a dedicated and gifted artist and educator.   We are also grateful to Chief Shodimu for his ongoing support of The Peekok YouthARTS Initiative.
