BLOG International day of PeaceEach year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on the 21st of September. The United Nation’s General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace among all nations and all people.
This year, world leaders met in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development to renew political commitment to long term sustainable peace.
At The Rio+20 Conference “Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future” was the theme chosen for this year’s observance of the International Day of Peace.
This art piece created in our ArtLink program is entitled, “Concert for Peace” by Rasma B., age 10 from the Baldone Art School in Latvia. She describes her piece, “I play my violin, and I do it for Peace for all the world. I wish when my music will make peace and happiness.  I think light comes from good things what we are all doing and thinking.”
