About the Artwork

The hearts are washed away in the river and other people are picking them up. Some people are giving their hearts back. This shows that the tsunami washed some people’s hearts away, but people are still supported by warm news, heart warming wishes and support. During the disaster, our neighbors helped us a lot. I value shared happiness.

My mother is a little scary and my father is a little strange, but they are always supporting and caring for me. They are very important to me. I like reading, watching TV, and relaxing. I like funny stories. I don’t like people who change their attitudes depending on who they are talking to. When I grow up, I want to be an elementary school teacher.

Dear Friends of America,

I will write you in Japanese because I can’t write it in English. Thank you for sharing your pictures. I found many differences in the images and they are very new to me. However, when I read the introduction, I found many similar comments: “I dislike onions”, “ I like to spend time with my family leisurely.” and I felt very closeness to you. I also heard the cry of your care for us in the light of the Great Earthquake of Eastern Japan and delighted to know your concerns. We live in the area, called Rifu-cho, Miyagi Pref. where is a little away from the major earthquake area; therefore, we didn’t suffer from great damage, but we lost powers for about two weeks and no water for about a month. Among my relatives, we lost some of their lives. Our daily lives go back to where it is now, but the area tsunami hit directly is far from reconstruction. So many people still suffer from aftershock and the disaster is not yet over. Please continue your warm support and let’s keep our linkage together. Things we can do as a child is limited, but I like to continue to give a hand by the way I can. Thank you very much. We move forward all the time. Changing the topic, I wish I can study abroad in America in the near future and then I would like to talk with you. I love the U.S.A.
