The title I chose to give my piece is The Misery of a Hero. I thought that this was a suitable name for my painting because it shows one soldier’s struggle to try to make his country the best and all he had to sacrifice to get there. His friends, his emotional stability were all lost fighting in a war. I show this in the painting by having the soldier on top of a hill with the singed American flag stuck into the ground, and his friends at his feet, all dead. He has acoomplished his task of fighting for his country and putting his country’s symbol in the ground at the top of the hill. But what toll will all of this gruesome war and fighting have on the rest of his life? I chose watercolors to do this painting because it was the only way that I could get the bleeding affect for the horizon and the ground.
I live in Wilton, Connecticut, in the United States of America. I live with my sixteen year old sister, who is very pretty, and my Mom, who loves me very much. I have a cute, brown dachshund named Peanut. My parents are divorced and my Dad lives in Florida. As an eighth grader, my favorite subjects in school are math, art, science and gym. I love to play sports, especially basketball. I’m on the eighth grade travel team which I enjoy for the more challenging level of playing in a more competitive league. I wouldn’t mind playing professional basketball when I’m older or I might chose a career in medicine.
