About the Artwork

Ivana Kupala is an old Russian tradition which goes back to the time when people worshipped different gods like the God of the Sun. The holiday took place on the longest day of the year, around June 22nd. People made wreaths, covered wheels with straw, and burned them. At night, people tried to find a special magic flower from the red fern. People would jump over the fire to burn everything dark inside them. In the painting, the old woman and old man are watching young boys and girls dancing.

My family consists of my mother, father, my sister, my brother, and I. I like history, and I like to learn in school. I don’t like computer games. I spend my free time watching TV and doing things with my relatives.

I want to become a children’s doctor.
