About the Artwork

in the artwork, the artist’s (Layla’s) hands hold a glucose checker displaying a reading of 700 mg, symbolizing my first encounter with (T1D). Blood samples surrounding the hand represent frequent testing endured during ICU stays. Profile details and an insulin pen depict ongoing treatment, while phrases from an audience reflect societal reactions. Amidst all of that, a comforting exchange with my mom adds a touch of positivity to the piece.
The artwork celebrates resilience in the face of T1D, blending humor and positivity to challenge stereotypes and offer hope!!

I’m the second of three sisters and I take delight in teasing my siblings. Both my parents work as engineers and together, we form a cheerful and close-knit family.
I love trying out new food. I believe food is the best way for cultural learning. I’m an avid gamer, particularly fond of Mario games on my Nintendo, and I’m nearly completing my collection. I dislike staying home, being out doors is my preference, I thrive on active adventures rather than staying home.
One of my main aspirations is to write a series of research papers on Forensic Science, a field I intend to pursue professionally in the future.
