In my piece, there is my mom, my dad, and my one year older than me sister. The scene takes place on my neighborhood street. We are going around the neighborhood putting up red ribbons everywhere and giving red envelopes with money to everyone in my neighborhood. This scene occurs on Chinese New Year (Saturday, January 25, 2019). Chinese New Year is celebrated because it’s lucky to celebrate and give everyone good fortunes and hopes. We wear the color red on Chinese New Year because it means good luck so that our wishes may come true. The value I’m illustrating is spending time with my family and at the same time, letting everyone in our neighborhood join in with our Chinese New Year. The reason why we let our neighborhood join our Chinese New Year is because we want to give them luck for a new start along with ourselves. We also want them to know how thankful we are for our neighbors.

The illustration is affected by the environment because we go out on a sunny day or a cold day. So, when celebrating Chinese New Year, sometimes we need to wear lots of clothing and other times we need to wear little clothing, depending upon the weather. We go and walk outside for a few hours going around the whole neighborhood putting up red ribbons. We see the wind blow by us and also a few red robins in their bird nests. I can preserve the environment by picking up the red ribbons when Chinese New Year is over. I pick up the ribbons the next day so that they won’t be blown onto the road or be blown away. We also try to pick up trash that is on the street because with the start of the new year for my family, we are trying to make our neighborhood as clean as possible.

I have a mom, a dad, and a year older sister. My sister likes to go on her skateboard every day. She is 13 years old and she is in the 8th grade. My dad is around 42 years old and my mom is 33 years old. My family is Chinese and we own a Chinese restaurant. My parents always work so they normally don’t have time for my and my older sister and they are starting to work on Christmas so there isn’t a lot of family time. In my free time, I like to draw because it is very relaxing, especially when I put on headphones and listen to music. I want to improve my drawing skills to draw more realistically because I want to show people I can draw. I used to be bad at drawing so maybe changing up my drawing styles has helped improve my skills. I’m good at drawing people. When I’m sad, I draw because it is very calming. I like to play the violin because it’s easy for me, and I want to learn more like learning the vibrato on the violin. I also want to learn harder songs even though I have only been learning violin for a year now. I dislike playing the flute because I have been learning it for 4 years already and it is really easy. I want to try a harder instrument in the future. My goal is to become a realistic artist and get better at it because I have always liked drawing. I started drawing realistic eyes and I started to draw a realistic face, too. When I grow up, I want to be a YouTuber and draw on YouTube. I want to share little stories of my past and drawing tips, too. The reason why I want to be drawing on Youtube is because I have always been a fan of drawing and Youtube.
