About the Artwork

In the holy month of Ramadan, we fast from sunrise to sunset. Families have ÒiftarÓ (breaking of the fast) together. Our grandmother tells us old stories about our traditions. In my scene, I play with my sisters, cousins and neighbours. Boys play their games. My mother and grand-mother are cooking al-haris, a meal made from rice and mince meat. ÒAbu TabeelÓ wakes people by beating a drum.

My family consists of my mother, my father my grandmother and I. I like reading, drawing and spending time with my friends. In my free time I draw, make handicrafts to decorate my room and I collect unusual beautiful stones from the beach. I hope to be an engineer when I grow up.

I am the girl in pink and playing with my sister. Watercolor.
