About the Artwork

The picture has a woman and girl who are praying to the sun. This is called pongal, which is the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu (India). In this scene, there is a pot which contains rice milk, ghee, and jaggery. This pot is kept in the sun for 7-8 hours. Afterward, the mixture comes out, and that’s what is shown in the picture.

The sun is the source of light and heat. Heat helps the mixture of rice and other ingredients to cook. This helps pongal to take place. I can help preserve the environment by saving water and planting more trees.

My family consists of four members- my father, mother, brother, and me. I like to make decorative things out of plastic waste and I love making drawings. I like studying, chatting with my best friend, and reading mystery stories. I don’t like to eat vegetables or junk food. My goal is to be “student of the year” this year. I want to be a collector when I grow up.
