2017-Team UP!
ArtLink 2016-17 Theme Assignment: This year’s ArtLink theme highlights the value of teamwork. “Minga” is the age-old practice in Ecuador of collaboration between friends and neighbors who volunteer their time, effort, and sometimes funds to achieve a shared goal for the betterment of the community. We asked students to think through their recent experiences at home, at school, or in the community and consider the many ways they or others in your community come together to achieve a goal. Then they selected one of these examples as the subject of their art piece.
In their artwork, the students had to thoughtfully capture a specific interaction to share. This moment might include their families, classmates, friends or community members taking part in an activity that reveals a meaningful cultural value.
