2007 – Focusing in On Life
Instead of viewing life from a distance, we asked the young artists to zoom in to discover the fascinating details that make up their daily lives.
They have come up with a variety of scenes featuring national, community, family, or even personal activities that are special to them. They then drew a quick sketch of that scene, and then focused in and painted a culturally significant detail of it.
An example of a full sketch and the detailed art piece is below (above).
Even though on this on-line exhibit we are unable to show you the sketches, we think you’ll enjoy the richness and amazing variety in the focused in pieces they came up with.
Included in our show is art created by young artists from VSA arts affiliates. VSA arts is an international non-profit organization which promotes education and lifelong learning opportunities in the arts for people with disabilities.
This exhibit includes pieces created by children attending mainstream to special education classrooms working with VSA arts affiliate schools and centers around the world. Look for the VSA arts logo that accompany these pieces.
