On Thursday, May 5, 2011, nearly 100 guests gathered at Norwalk (CT) City Hall for Creative Connections’ 2011 “Gala for Global Understanding.” Surrounded by student works from our international art archive and gorgeous “global” table decor, guests enjoyed a performance by the Cambodian dance troupe, Children of Bassac, a silent auction featuring artwork from around the world, and a delicious buffet dinner from Marcia Selden Catering and Event Planning. It was truly a memorable evening. In recognition of the gala, Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy issued a proclamation and letter congratulating CC on its work connecting young people around the world through the exchange of art and ideas, and State Senator Bob Duff was on hand to present CC with a legislative proclamation to the same effect. After their performance, members of the Cambodian dance troupe joined guests for dinner to share more about their culture and their experiences as members of our International Young Performers’ Tour. Finally, guests learned more about our Scholarship Fund and the opportunities it brings to classrooms that would not otherwise be able to participate in our programming. Creative Connections thanks everyone who helped to make the evening such a success!
