FAMILY ART WORKSHOP
FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS OR CAREGIVERS
SATURDAY, MARCH 2, 2013
2:00PM – 3:30PM
The Museum of Arts and Culture
New Rochelle High School
265 Clove Road, New Rochelle, NY 10801
You are invited
to a special family friendly workshop on the
Museum of Arts & Culture’s “You Are Not Alone” exhibit,
featuring art created by New Rochelle students from
Albert Leonard Middle School and Japanese students from
Miyagiken Rifu School following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
Creative Connections will set the context of the children’s art from Japan by displaying news photos of the earthquake and tsunami that struck Northern Japan in March 2011.
Visitors can view the art created by fifty 11-12 year old students living in the area affected by the disaster. In their pieces and artist descriptions, they share their experiences following the earthquake and tsunami.
Each participating family will have the opportunity to create a simple art piece and/or compose a message of support to send directly to the young Japanese artists.
