This art work will be included in this year’s International Children’s Art Exhibit 2013, “Illuminate, Bringing my Culture to Light!

The exhibit will open on May 30, 2013 at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk in Connecticut.

The young artist describes his scene,“There I stand near our biggest river, the Daugava River and say hello to a big ship. It’s one of the biggest and oldest regatta ships in our port in Riga.”

The Latvian name for the river, Daugava, originated from the ancient Baltic words for “the great water” it drains into the Gulf of Riga in Latvia, which is an arm of the Baltic Sea. Next summer Riga, Latvia is going to become one of the stops for the international regatta “The Tall Ship Races 2013”.
