This unique program is designed for art and social studies classes around the world. Students create art projects designed to reflect their life and culture and exchange their work with a partner class in a different country. The students then examine and enjoy the art from their partners, gaining new insights into their culture and then share these insights with their partners. This final dialogue phase is what makes ArtLink Plus unique.
ArtLink Plus partner teachers are given workshop materials to help them better prepare students to:
- Be introspective about their culture and their place in it.
- Communicate key aspects of their culture using art.
- Understand through their partner’s art the realities that exist in their partner’s world.
- Discover and explore the values that underlie the surface aspects of culture.
- conceive thoughtful questions for their partners
- Dialogue with the partner class to better understand their culture.
- Appreciate the cultures of students participating from all countries in the ArtLink program.
- Become global citizens by developing their cultural literacy.
